NATURE EXPERIENCE, TRAILS-GUIDED, HIKING, BIRDING, MOUNTAINEERING, MOUNTAIN BIKING, ARCHAEOLOGICAL (PLACES OF INTEREST) Medike is a mountain sanctuary situated 36 km west of Louis Trichardt deep in the Soutpansberg, South Africa's most northerly mountain range. The Sand River with its impressive gorge and massive quartzite forms an outstanding feature of this 1400ha Natural Heritage Site. Here the wildlife enthusiast is rewarded with spectacular vistas, star-filled nights, beautiful plant, animal and bird life. This makes Medike a haven for conservationists, botanists, bird enthusiasts, lepidopterists, photographers and archaeologists. A variety of hiking trails lead to sheltered kloofs, waterfalls, spectacular rock formations and a mysterious Bushman shelter with ancient rock art. Unique accommodation is offered in a stone cottage built around huge boulders, a pioneer cottage, a tented camp and limited camping on a self-catering or fully inclusive basis.

ACCOMODATION: Stone cottage, 6 beds, R85.00 pp (self catering). Pioneer Cottage, 7 beds, R70.00 pp (self catering). Midweek less 20% excluding long weekends and school holidays. Tented Camp, 8 beds, from R40.00 pp. Camping, three sites, R20.00 pp. Children under 12 years old 50% of adult rates. Rate includes bedding, linen and towels in cottages. Cottages not serviced.
